Our Rental Program is Ending as of June 30, 2025

Our Violin Shop will remain OPEN as usual for Sales of Violins, Violas, Cellos, Bows, Cases, and Accessories. We will also continue to offer Repairs and Appraisals.

Hammond Ashley Violins, HammondAshley.com, has agreed to take on the rental instruments for those who wish to continue renting their current instrument through the Summer and beyond.

This transfer will only happen for customers who complete a new Hammond Ashley Violins Rental Contract as detailed below! If there is no Rental Contract completed with Hammond Ashley Violins, the rental instrument will remain the property of Henry Bischofberger Violins and must be purchased or returned by June 30, 2025.

** All customers with current instrument rentals must select one of the 3 options below as soon as possible. **

  1. Return –
    • Do Not Transfer the instrument if you are going to return it at the end of the school year. Schedule an appointment online under “Return” to return your instrument to Henry Bischofberger Violins.
  2. Purchase –
    • Schedule an appointment online under “Purchase” to purchase any size instrument. Ask us for an Estimate including your Rental Credit. Your rental credit will continue to be available even after June 30th.
  3. If you will continue renting your current instrument beyond the Summer 2025, please transfer to Hammond Ashley Violins –
    • Visit HammondAshley.com, select the “Reserve Rental” option.
    • Create a New Account. 
    • Fill out a new month-to-month Rental Agreement online and pay the first month rent.
    • In the “Notes to Store” section, state that you are an existing renter with Henry Bischofberger Violins. If you can, enter your instrument number from your most recent billing email from Henry Bischofberger Violins.
    • If you rent more than one instrument, you can go back and fill out another Rental Agreement in the same Account.
    • Be sure you provide the adult name, phone number and contact information you used when filling out the rental contract with Henry Bischofberger Violins so that we may easily transfer your contract. See your most recent billing email from Henry Bischofberger Violins to ensure it is the same. If the information does not match, Henry Bischofberger Violins may not be able to end your current Rental Contract.
    • You will be contacted by Hammond Ashley Violins via telephone or email once you have completed the form to verify that you are now renting the instrument from Hammond Ashley Violins. At that time, Henry Bischofberger will be notified and will officially end your rental contract and issue any pro-rated rent due.
    • After the contract is complete and the first month is paid, Hammond Ashley Violins will own the instrument. Any returns, repairs, questions, or switching to a new size instrument will be done through Hammond Ashley Violins.

  1. Do I return my instrument to Henry Bischofberger Violins or to Hammond Ashley Violins?
    • If you have NOT filled out any paperwork for Hammond Ashley Violins, you will return the instrument to Henry.
    • AFTER you fill out a new Rental Contract and pay Hammond Ashley Violins, you will return the instrument to Hammond Ashley Violins.
  2. Do I have to wait until the end of my rental period to switch my rental to Hammond Ashley Violins?
    • No, if you are choosing this option please go ahead and make the switch now. We will prorate and refund any unused rent after you complete the new rental process with Hammond Ashley Violins.
  3. Can I use my rental credit with Henry Bischofberger Violins toward the purchase of a different size instrument?
    • Yes, you can use your rental credit toward the purchase of any size instrument. The rental credit will not apply to purchases of bows, cases, or accessories. The rental credit will continue to be available after June 30th as the Shop will remain open.
  4. Does my rental credit expire?
    • No, your rental credit will not expire and can be used later for purchases from Henry Bischofberger Violins as the Shop will remain open.
  5. If I purchase a fractional size instrument from Henry Bischofberger Violins, can I trade it in later for a full size?
    • No, we do not buy back or trade in fractional size instruments.
  6. Are Hammond Ashley Violins prices the same as I am paying now?
  7. Can I purchase a fractional size instrument from Henry Bischofberger Violins past June 30, 2025?
    • Yes, we will continue to sell fractional size instruments on a first come first serve basis until they are gone.
  8. Will Henry Bischofberger Violins offer payment plans for purchase?
    • No, we do not offer payment plans.
  9. Can we try fractional size instruments to pick the one we want?
  10. Will Hammond Ashley Violins buy back or trade in a fractional size instrument we purchased from Henry Bischofberger Violins?
